Abstract

This article examines the current challenges of control and oversight in the Russian hospitality industry amid the steady growth of domestic tourism. The author analyzes the main consumer complaints, highlighting their connection to the inadequate compliance of many accommodation facilities with established requirements. Particular attention is paid to reforming the accommodation classification system and introducing regional government oversight in the tourism industry. The article describes the scope, procedures, and preventative nature of oversight and control measures, as well as the expanded powers of supervisory authorities and the administrative penalties introduced for accommodation facility owners. It concludes that the new control mechanisms are designed to promptly respond to violations, improving the reliability of information for tourists and guaranteeing the quality of accommodation services.
