At Sheremetyevo Airport, a service was launched to board the plane by biometrics

MOSCOW, June 1. /TASS/. The experiment with boarding a plane by biometrics has started at Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow, reports the correspondent of TASS.

Registration and boarding services without a passport were launched on "Aeroflot" flights between Moscow and St. Petersburg. Passengers can check in for the flight, enter the airport’s transport sector and board the plane with automatic facial identification via special turnstiles. However, the use of biometrics remains voluntary - passengers can still present their documents.

The experiment will last until 1 April 2027. Other airports and airlines will be able to join it if the infrastructure is technically ready. As deputy director of the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation Vitaly Tekhtelev previously noted, biometrics will reduce the travel time for landing from 15 to 7 minutes.

Previously, the first passengers who used the service of biometric boarding departed from Pulkovo St. Petersburg airport to Sheremetyevo on a flight of the airline "Rossiya".
