Kamchatka may be among the first regions in Russia to introduce the new Il-114-300 aircraft on regular passenger flights. The aircraft are planned to be transferred to Aurora, the base carrier of the Unified Far Eastern Airline.
The Il-114-300 can land at airfields with unpaved runways. This is important for Kamchatka, where some remote settlements can only be reached by plane. The new airliners will gradually replace the An-24, An-26, and Yak-40.
Currently, Aurora operates flights from Petropavlovsk‑Kamchatsky to Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Yuzhno‑Sakhalinsk, Magadan, Anadyr, and Severo‑Kurilsk. In 2025, more than 224,000 passengers were transported on these routes; in January–August 2026, over 160,000.
Previously, TourDom already reported that Aurora is discussing the supply of Il-114-300. The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) plans to produce the first six aircraft in 2028, and then increase production to 12 aircraft per year.
