UnionPay seems to be changing its policy towards Russia. For the past four years, this payment system has not accepted new members from our country, and now two banks have announced their intention to issue its cards.
Rostov "Center-invest" is going to release the first plastic card in late July. It can be obtained free of charge (but the monthly cost will be 299 rubles) in offices in Rostov and Volgograd regions, Krasnodar and Stavropol regions, as well as in Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod and Maikop.
Moscow Ingo Bank has announced the release of classic UP at the beginning of August. For the issue, 3 thousand rubles or 450 yuan will need to be paid. The service is promised free of charge. A commission of 4% is imposed for cash withdrawals, but not less than 700 rubles or 70 yuan.
Recall that only the Rosselkhozbank and the Asia-Pacific Bank (ATB) now issue international UnionPay cards in Russia. And they can be counted on, according to tourists, in several dozen countries, including Vietnam, Turkey, Indonesia, Thailand, the Arab Emirates, Maldives, Egypt.
However, frequent travelers note that even in these countries only UnionPay is not reliable: the service can work unsteadily.
